Down Under Sounds

Every year I put together a line-up of bands for the Houston Australian-American Chamber of Commerce's annual Aussie music showcase, this year's event was held on March 11.  With the imminent release of the new VTrails album, I invoked organizer's privilege and took the opportunity to kick off proceedings with a short solo set, a couple of tunes from our debut Ghosts and Gravity and a couple of songs from the upcoming Buffalo Speedway (getting close now, only a month until release date).

As usual, it was a great night, also featuring Mia Dyson, Money For Rope and Anne McCue.  The venue was the fabulous Continental Club, sister to the famous Austin venue and pretty much my favourite venue in Houston.

On the afternoon of the show, Mia and I went to radio KPFT to perform and chat with the King of Grief, Jeffrey Thames on his show Sound Awake.  Jeffrey has been a great supporter of Down Under Sounds, and Australian music over the years and we had a great time catching up with him.  If you press play on the audio widget thingy add the bottom of this post you can check out the acoustic version of In the Sun from Ghosts and Gravity that I did on the show.

As always, please press the button of your choice on the front page of the site to stay up to date with all the news, which will be ramping up over the next month leading up to the release date of Buffalo Speedway, which will be available in pretty much any digital or physical format that you may desire (sorry, no 8-track, but if any of you hipsters out there are interested in a custom cassette edition, hit us up via e-mail - we have the technology).
