Welcome

Atmospheric Indie Rock from Brisbane, Australia. New album The Sky Is Blue out now.

New Music!

It took a bit longer than we planned, but new music is finally here.  The album Chameleon Bones will be released on August 5, and the first single, OK is out now and available for free download, on this site or on Soundcloud. You can also check out the lyric video:

Live shows!

As I write, things are back to their natural order, with the band once again separated by the Pacific Ocean, after a great few weeks in Queensland where we played the First! Ever! live Valery Trails shows.  Some more video may surface, but for now, here's proof at least that we actually managed to pull off this unlikely feat:

Thanks to the good folks of Brisbane, Nambour and Toowoomba (and those who came from further afield), it was great to meet you and make some noise for you.  People of the US, hopefully we can bring some live VTrails action to your shores at some stage.  People of other nations - honestly, it's going to be a bit tricky to get to you, but let us know if you have any ideas.

Big love to the awesome Suicide Swans, The Stress of Leisure and Morgan Hann who were excellent line-up-mates, I highly recommend checking them out.

In honour of the inaugural live shows, we released a single - In Your Heart (from Buffalo Speedway), complete with two previously unreleased "B-sides".  You can download it at our Bandcamp page: In Your Heart

Also check out the video, where we break our longstanding "no band members in music videos" policy:

Last but not least, work is well away on album number three, watch this space for further developments.

Cheers,
Andrew

Happy New Year

Happy 2015 to you all!  Watch this space for 2015 VTrails happenings, including new music, and in the mean time, check out an acoustic performance of "In the Sun":

Down Under Sounds

Every year I put together a line-up of bands for the Houston Australian-American Chamber of Commerce's annual Aussie music showcase, this year's event was held on March 11.  With the imminent release of the new VTrails album, I invoked organizer's privilege and took the opportunity to kick off proceedings with a short solo set, a couple of tunes from our debut Ghosts and Gravity and a couple of songs from the upcoming Buffalo Speedway (getting close now, only a month until release date).

As usual, it was a great night, also featuring Mia Dyson, Money For Rope and Anne McCue.  The venue was the fabulous Continental Club, sister to the famous Austin venue and pretty much my favourite venue in Houston.

On the afternoon of the show, Mia and I went to radio KPFT to perform and chat with the King of Grief, Jeffrey Thames on his show Sound Awake.  Jeffrey has been a great supporter of Down Under Sounds, and Australian music over the years and we had a great time catching up with him.  If you press play on the audio widget thingy add the bottom of this post you can check out the acoustic version of In the Sun from Ghosts and Gravity that I did on the show.

As always, please press the button of your choice on the front page of the site to stay up to date with all the news, which will be ramping up over the next month leading up to the release date of Buffalo Speedway, which will be available in pretty much any digital or physical format that you may desire (sorry, no 8-track, but if any of you hipsters out there are interested in a custom cassette edition, hit us up via e-mail - we have the technology).

Singles Going Steady

So, it's almost SXSW time, which means time to take a bit of a hiatus from PR things as all eyes turn to Austin.  To recap, we've released two singles from the new album - Starsong and Children.  Both are available for free download on this very site, and various other places around the internets.  We've also started to get a bit of radio airplay, even before our official radio campaign starts, which is very cool.

Starsong premiere on The Big Takeover

Children premiere on The Dadada

Next week sees a very rare live outing of a few VTrails tunes as Andrew does a solo set to kick off the fifth annual Down Under Sounds Aussie music showcase in Houston, preceded by an in-studio appearance on Sound Awake on KPFT 90.1.

Once the SXSW hangover has worn off, you'll be hearing more from us, leading up to the Buffalo Speedway album release in April.  Follow us on Twitter and Facebook to keep up with all the action.

New Web Site!

If you are here, you've found it - a new content-rich home base for the VTrails on the Interwebs.  Enjoy!
